As a Field Service Engineer Customer Engineer at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service. Location: Regensburg, Germany (on-site at client facility) As a Customer Engineer, you will support advanced semiconductor equipment directly at our customer's site, ensuring performance, reliability, and continuous operation. This role combines hands-on technical work with close customer interaction in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. You will work alongside international engineering teams and play a key role in maintaining production stability.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, start-up, and qualification of complex equipment with a high level of independence Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system issues to ensure maximum uptime and performance Respond to production-related incidents and participate in escalation processes in collaboration with global engineering teams Execute preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and hardware retrofits Analyze equipment performance and implement improvements to increase availability and reduce operational costs Follow established procedures, checklists, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with current standards Support process-related topics and collaborate closely with customers and internal stakeholders Maintain strong customer relationships through clear communication and high-quality service delivery Identify potential risks or dissatisfaction early and initiate corrective actions Degree or vocational training in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field Experience in field service, maintenance, or working with complex technical equipment Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a high-responsibility, customer-facing role Structured and reliable working style, even under pressure or in dynamic environments Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical information clearly Team-oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate across international teams Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement Salary:
