As our Senior Electrical Systems Engineer (m/f/d) – Instrumentation, Controls & Power Systems, you will play a key role in designing the electrical infrastructure that powers GlassPoint's next generation of solar thermal plants.

Working closely with colleagues across Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, EPC partners, and suppliers, you will develop safe, reliable, and efficient electrical solutions for industrial-scale renewable energy facilities.

From concept development through commissioning, you'll contribute to projects that are shaping the future of industrial heat and energy.

Your Impact

In this role, you'll design electrical systems that enable the safe and efficient operation of some of the world's largest solar thermal facilities, supporting heavy industry on its journey toward decarbonization.

You'll combine technical expertise with systems thinking, working with internal teams, EPC partners, and global suppliers to develop robust, scalable electrical solutions that become part of our commercial projects worldwide.

What You'll Do

Design Electrical Systems

  • Develop the conceptual design of electrical systems for solar thermal plants.
  • Design and specify electrical heat tracing (EHT) systems, including piping, tanks, cable routing, junction boxes, and interfaces to plant control systems.
  • Develop electrical architectures that support reliable, efficient, and safe plant operation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, regulations, and engineering best practices.


Develop Instrumentation & Control Systems

  • Specify instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and level measurement devices.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineering teams to define automation concepts, control philosophies, and system interfaces.
  • Develop instrumentation and control (I&C) architectures for molten-salt solar thermal systems.
  • Support the development of tracking algorithms, automation solutions, and electrical control strategies.


Engineering & Supplier Collaboration

  • Select and specify electrical drive systems for solar collector tracking.
  • Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation.
  • Evaluate supplier solutions and support technical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners, control system providers, and equipment vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage technical interfaces and support successful project execution.


Support Project Delivery

  • Support prototype development, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to resolve technical challenges.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of electrical design standards and engineering processes.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout all project phases, from concept development through commissioning.


Who You Are

You enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and designing reliable systems for demanding industrial environments. You combine strong technical expertise with a practical, solution-oriented mindset and have experience managing external partners and vendors. You thrive in multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and balance attention to detail with system-level thinking. Curious, collaborative, and eager to learn, you enjoy helping build engineering processes in a growing technology company while working both independently and as part of a team.

Ideally, you'll bring

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience designing electrical systems for industrial plants, renewable energy projects, power generation facilities, or process industries.
  • Strong experience in electrical engineering, instrumentation, and control system design.
  • Experience designing or specifying electrical heat tracing (EHT) systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of electrical power distribution and component selection.
  • Experience with electrical drives, motors, and motion systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, flow, and level measurement technologies.
  • Experience with process wiring, cable design, and electrical documentation.
  • Understanding of low-voltage protection concepts and electrical safety principles.
  • Experience creating technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards such as IEC and VDE; knowledge of NEC is beneficial.
  • Experience with PLC programming, industrial automation, or control software would be an advantage.
  • Interest in microprocessor-based systems and edge controllers.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors, or external engineering partners.
  • Strong communication skills in English; German language skills are welcome but not required.
